Freedom Credit Union was created in 1956 by a small group of educators from the Provo School District. They wanted a financial institution that would work for its members, not outside investors. These teachers and school staff needed fair access to loans, savings accounts, and trustworthy banking options. So, they formed Freedom Credit Union, a member-owned financial institution built on trust, cooperation, and service.
At first, membership was limited to school employees, but as word spread about our honesty and personal service, our community grew.
Growing to Serve Utah County
For many years, Freedom Credit Union operated from a single branch in Provo. We became known as a friendly, reliable local credit union offering a personal touch that big banks often miss. To better serve our growing membership, we opened a second branch in Springville in 2022.
